Agright Meriki Off-Grid Poultry Farm Project, Griffith, NSW

Spark Professional Services is proud to have contributed to the cutting-edge off-grid energy solution at Agright’s Meriki farm, the largest off-grid poultry farm in Australia. This project sets a new standard for renewable energy in agriculture, and our team’s safe, efficient evaluation of the high-voltage microgrid and associated systems has enabled Agright to operate with minimal environmental impact.

For this project, we conducted in-depth testing and commissioning of the electrical infrastructure, including the 11kV private distribution network, spanning 4.5km of overhead lines, along with its associated protection system, switchgear, transformers, and earth system. Our scope of work also covered the commissioning of HV switchgear, transformers, battery systems, and critical substation components, ensuring seamless integration with the farm’s renewable energy generation.

Santos DLNG, Darwin, Northern Territory

Spark Professional Services was engaged through ABB Australia to deliver a critical retrofit project for Santos DLNG, a major player in the LNG export industry. This large-scale project at the Darwin LNG facility involved the replacement of 35 outdated protection relays with modern, high-performance systems.

Our comprehensive scope of work included the installation, programming, testing, and commissioning of these relays, seamlessly integrating them into the facility’s advanced network. By enhancing the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the system, Spark contributed to maintaining the operational excellence of one of Australia’s key energy infrastructures.

CDC Data Centre BK, Brooklyn, Melbourne

As part of the CDC BK1 project, our team handled the commissioning of a complex network of 30 advanced switchgears, including an extensive protection system equipped with high-quality Schneider and Schweitzer relays, such as the Schneider P123 and Schweitzer SEL-487B.

The project called for essential components like voltage transformers, current transformers, and battery systems, which we expertly integrated and commissioned. In addition to our technical skills, we effectively managed client documentation and adhered to client standards throughout the project. Being based in NSW, we faced the challenge of adapting to a new environment, but still successfully met the client’s demands. Our final delivery was achieved through careful coordination with several subcontractors working in the switchroom, each dealing with different systems, including LV assist and UPS.

BlueScope I-01 Blower Station, Port Kembla

BlueScope engaged Spark Professional Services to test and commission the upgraded 35-panel 6.6kV switchboard at their No.2 Blower Station, a crucial component of the network distribution system.

This project involved replacing outdated Westinghouse HQ-type switchgear, originally installed in the early nineties, with modern equipment to enhance dependability and reduce manual handling risks. Our scope of work included the comprehensive commissioning of the HV switchgear, protection systems, battery systems, and critical substation components, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the upgraded infrastructure.
